BACKGROUND
As an astronomer he became obssesed with discovering a companion sun to Sol, a "Dark Star" known as Nemesis. Unfortunately this is a mine-field of opinion littered with failed theories and very vocal crackpots that tend to obfiscate genuine research.
He grew bitter and became driven to prove his theories. By constructing a huge mass detector he would be able to locate the dark star and plot its exact location, proving his theories to the fools who laughed at his careful papers. But disaster struck when his scanning beam contacted Nemesis! In his moment of triumph the power ran wild, tapping the gravitational energies of the dark star. The mass of the building, equipment and the long researcher were fused into a single demented being - Nemesis. Empowered by the force of the dark sun, he took its name and strode boldly forth. Some beleived that Nemesis had caused global catastrophies in the past, massive extinction followed by eveloutionary leaps. He will be the incarnation of disaster and bring humanity into a new age!!!!

Although no credible types beleive a dark star is out there causing disasters, many astronomers think that Sol has a dark companion because of the abundnance of heavy metals found only in the aftermath of a Supernova. A burnt-out dwarf or neutron star could be orbiting outside the Oort cloud, and would be very hard to detect since it would be a 'dark' body.
